We arrived in esquel by bus on a saturday, with the plan in mind to get out to piedra parada. A huge piece of rock
in the middle of a realy flat area then there is a stream running by and a canyon. Supposedly a good place fro rock climbing.
So we went to the tourist information that gave us a map and explained the way to a cute little hostel.
Well the hostel was closed and there is no busses to the piedra parada till thursday. We saw the hostel El caminante
on the way into town, it’s basicly just next to the bus terminal. And has a really good kitchen downstairs! Best enpanadas we had
so far.
Sunday morning —
not to early we draw a sign with our destination on it and walked out of town to hitch a ride. there is
no way we are going to stay for allmost a week in esquel i mean the ice-cream is good and all but, man! i really have to get some
rock into my fingers!
Well long story short, we stood at that same crossing for 6 houres not getting a lift. back at the hostel a guy explained to us
that there is no way anyone is going out there on a sunday! they all just cruse around town and stay local. but there would be a bus
there on monday. well once it rains it rains. and of course we missed our bus cause it’s not leaving at noon,
it’s at 9 o’clock.
so now we shorthanded desided to visit the rock on our way back, and tonight we’ll be of to el chalten. to get a first impression on
the fitz roy!
P.S. —
esquel even has it’s own downhill skateboard race!
